Monte Carlo success!

Here I am leaving the casino. I am smiling because I had success in the casino; in other words I did not lose any money! They did not allow pictures of the inside, however I can tell you that it was quite opulent. High doomed ceilings with marble columns, gold leaf covered details, carvings of beautiful women holding the chandeliers, replicas of 19th century masters paintings, etc. etc. It was also very quiet inside, and there were 2 - 3 staff for every customer. And how did they pay for all this? Blackjack tables with 100 Euro minimum and slots with 20 Euro minimum. My associates played five hands of blackjack and the house got 21 on three of the five hands. Hmmmm.

  1. The place is frequented by many Eastern European mafioso .. EUR100 minimum hands of blackjack do not even phase them. They are too interested in order EUR500 bottles of Cristal and showing off for the "dates."

  2. I have had Cristal. It is not really worth the hyped-up price. While it was the choice of Russian czars at one point (note that it is one of the only, if not the only, Champagne that comes in a clear bottle -- all the better for the czars to see anything untoward that someone would try to slip into their Champagne to kill them), the brand became the go-to label for rappers and mafiosi b/c it is expensive: it is kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy -- it is expensive b/c people want it; people want it (to show off) b/c it is expensive.
